The way the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) provides its weather forecasts across New South Wales is set to change dramatically.
From September, the bureau will realign the boundaries of its forecast areas so they coincide with those used by the Rural Fire Service.
Senior meteorologist Julie Evans says all locations will now be able to receive seven-day forecasts.
She says the website will also be of particular benefit to people who do not get a specific forecast for their town at the moment.
"You can actually click on the map and zoom down to the nearest six kilometres and get a seven-day forecast for your particular patch," Ms Evans said.
"It will provide the expectation of rainfall on a three-hourly basis for the first three days and wind and the likelihood of thunderstorms on a three-hourly basis."
