High Resolution Photos

E-mail Print

flickr.com

The images on our web site are restricted to a max of 500 pixels wide, so to help us share our higher resolution photos we have set up an account with flickr.com

Flickr is a revolution in photo storage, sharing and organization, making photo management an easy, natural and collaborative process. Get comments, notes, and tags on your photos, post to any blog, share and more!

Flickr is a free service with a pro membership option.

All of our members (staff and volunteers) are invited to join flickr.com and join our flickr group called "Monaro RFS". You can then share the RFS images with all of us.

To control content we have set up a few Monaro RFS moderators who will approve any photos that are posted in the Monaro RFS group.

Click HERE to get yourself a Flickr account and start sharing your RFS photos.

Incident Management Team Support Group Meeting

E-mail Print

About 30 people recently met at the Cooma Fire Control Centre to hear about the role and importance of forming a Support Group to assist in fire incident management. The group listened to presentations by the RFS staff about the various roles that the Support Group volunteers will fill. This includes communications, logistics and support to other specialists areas involved in incident management.

IMT Group

Participants were assured that their role was vital during fires and the Support Group is extremely important to the RFS. It was also an ideal way to become involved in supporting the community during periods of peak RFS activity.

PDF printing

E-mail Print

We have now found a fix for the PDF printing issue.

You can now create a pdf version of our articles with the help of an external service called:

Web2PDF

There web site is worth a look for your own PDF tasks.

Here's how it works (from our site)

1. Firstly you have to find an article that is worth printing.

2. Then click on the printer icon Example of the print button (look up there in the top right hand corner) Look up

3. A new window will open that will display the article in a printer friendly format. This format includes a Monaro RFS header and a PDF icon Example of the PDF button

4. You now have two choices:

(a) Click on the printer icon Example of the print button if you want to send the article to your printer

(b) Click on the PDF icon Example of the PDF button to make a PDF version of the article at www.web2pdfconvert.com/

Why don't you test it out using this article?

Training Plan 2010

E-mail Print

Our training plan is updated frequently to suit local brigade needs and requests. Because of these frequent updates we have decided to change the ”Training Calendar” menus.

We now have three menus on the left that are created from the one data source using the ”type it once and use it many times” methodology.

The three menus are:

  1. Training Calendar - shows all of the events with filter and ”number of pages to display” options. The column headers can also be clicked to sort the events into groups.
  2. Download Version - downloads a PDF version that has been created from the ”Printer Friendly” version.
  3. Printer Friendly Version - is similar to the ”Training Calendar” version without the filter and ”number of pages to display” options. This is used periodically to create the PDF version.

I am planning to use these options to create the 2011 Training Plan in consultation with the Training Advisory Group.

More updates due soon (Watch this Space)

We have two new things to share...

1. Bruce English has signed up.

Bruce English from the Numeralla Countegany Brigade has joined the Web Site Working Group. We spent a few hours last night (22nd July 2010) looking at the web site editing tools so that Bruce can upload images and edit our content. Bruce is also very handy with a camera and we welcome him to the team.

Please contact Mick Holton or Bruce English if you would like to get involved with the management of our web site. We need more writers, photographers, editors, publishers and someone to assist with some of the "back-end" data management.

2. The nomination form has been updated to version 2.2

The only change from the last version is that Kerrie Evans has been added to the email recipient list. This will ensure that Kerrie gets a copy of your nomination for administration purposes. Thanks Kerrie for your help.

You can get the lasted copy of the nomination form in our downloads section:
