Did you miss out on the ABK?

The Aviation Basic Knowledge (ABK) assessments are flooding in with some good feedback on the course at Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre then the Jindabyne Airfield. It definitely helps when the participants can visit an airfield, see the aircraft and ask questions to the pilots.

RFS members who were not able to attend the ABK on Saturday 3rd July can still complete this training using the "Self Directed Learning" method. All of the material (manual, workbook and assessment) is available on this web site or you can contact Mick Holton for an ABK package (a hard copy of the same material).

A version of this article appeared in the Summit Sun newspaper titled "Fire Fighters Flying High" (edition Thursday July 8, 2010)

The Rural Fire Service, Monaro Team and members of the Jindabyne Aero Club joined forces on Saturday 3rd July 2010 to make the ABK training day a high flying success.

Aviation involvement in fire fighting happens on more than one level as was demonstrated on Saturday’s training day.

The Rural Fire Service Monaro Team (Snowy River, Cooma Monaro and Bombala shires) provided 28 personnel for this course that focused on safety around aircraft.
