This BF course code is: BF-04-2010-Cooma

Bush Firefighter (BF) is a program for members to carry out bush firefighting activities under direct supervision.

A Change of Venue

Because of a large influx of new members from the north, we have relocated this course from Cooma to Colinton. There was only one member who had nominated that lives close to Cooma and a possible 15+ members from the north.

Entry Requirements

Before commencing training or assessment in BF, a member must:

  1. Be able to understand and speak the English language sufficiently well to work in a team as a Bush Firefighter (BF).
  2. Have completed their RFS Safety Induction (SI).
  3. If they are over 40, or have any significant illness, injury or disability; discuss with their doctor whether it is safe and appropriate to take on the demanding role of a bush firefighter, and advise the RFS if any limitations need to be placed on their activities as a member.

Training Times

7.00pm to 9.30pm on Thursday evening 5th August

8.00am to 4.00pm on the weekend as follows:

  • Saturday 7th August
  • Sunday 8th August

Nominations - Please nominate before Monday 2nd August

Description

Colinton Fire Brigade Shed and Training Facility is easy to drive past because it is set well off the Monaro Highway. Watch out for the fire danger sign and the driveway on the eastern side of the highway.
